What is CBD Wine?
CBD is a compound that has been praised for its potential health benefits. Many have reported experiencing benefits using CBD to treat such things as anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, insomnia, seizures, chronic pain among a variety of other conditions. CBD has long been consumed via smoking, vaping, edibles, and other topical applications such as creams and lotions. Another category that has recently emerged with much weight and support is CBD drinkables. Drinkables were previously categorized as CBD edibles, but they have since been able to muster up enough market presence and business that drinkable CBD is now considered to be a sector of the CBD industry on its own. One of the recent buzz products in the realm of CBD consumption is CBD wine.
CBD wine is a CBD, and in some cases THC, infused beverage developed from wine grapes. When you consume CBD wine, you may not get that typical intoxicating effect that you would get from regular wine, but you will experience a sensation from the inclusion of water-soluble CBD. This effect will be felt as quickly as normal wine drinkers feel the intoxicating effects of standard wine.Much of the earlier cannabis wines were created based on infusion while modern cannabis wines are focusing on emulsions. The difference between these processes is that in the process of infusion, the cannabis is submerged into the wine.
When the process of emulsion is done, oils or water-soluble solutions are mixed into liquids. Using oils or water-soluble compounds makes the combination much smoother. In the process of infusion, a variety of bad and good terpenes are extracted and included in the wine. This resulted in cannabis wine that was not very pleasant to the nostrils. With the advancement in technology, it is now possible to remove the unwanted flavors in the process and manufacture color free and aroma free CBD emulsions. CBD wine is a great alternative to smoking or vaping. Both smoking and vaping CBD can be potentially harmful to your health. It has been reported by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that vaping may be responsible for a large number of cases of damaged lungs in the United States of America. CBD edibles and such drinkables as CBD wine make consuming CBD tastier and safer.
How to Make Cannabis Wine from Home
While there are big manufacturers producing CBD wine that you can easily purchase and consume, there are ways in which you can produce this healthy and delicious drink from home.
Let us take a look at the “Teabag” method.
With this method, cannabis is infused directly into the wine with the help of a cheesecloth-made pouch. This method is easy to do and can be used with a great variety of wines. For the best results, the cannabis must first be activated. To make your home-made cannabis wine, you will need one bottle of your favorite wine, about 25 grams of your preferred strain of cannabis, a baking sheet, tin foil, and a cheesecloth.
Step 1: You will need to decarb or activate the cannabis. This wakes up the beneficial aspects of cannabis to ensure that you get the best results from consuming it. To effectively do this, you will need to crumble your cannabis into big pieces and wrap them in tin foil. These wrapped pieces of cannabis must then be placed on a baking sheet. You should then place it into the oven and bake it at 110 degrees Celsius for no longer than 1 hour.
Step 2: Remove the activated cannabis from the oven and open the tin foil. This will allow all the residual moisture to evaporate. You will then need to use a grinder or a pestle to further break down the cannabis. The more you break down the cannabis is the easier it will be to extract.
Step 3: With the help of the cheesecloth, make a small pouch in which to place the activated cannabis. You will then need to make a knot to keep the bits of cannabis in the pouch. After doing this, you may proceed to place your cannabis teabag into the wine bottle. It is important that the cannabis is totally submerged in the wine. You may now cork the wine bottle.
Step 4: Leave the cannabis teabag in the wine bottle in the refrigerator for about a day. The alcohol in the wine will do the rest of the work for you in extracting the goodness of the cannabis. While your wine and cannabis mixture is sitting in the fridge, it is recommended that you shake it up every few hours.
Step 5: After letting the cannabis teabag sit in the wine bottle for a day, you may now remove the bottle from the refrigerator and take out the cheesecloth pouch. To get greater potency, squeeze the pouch into the wine. This will make your CBD wine stronger than if you were to simply remove the pouch from the bottle.
Step 6: Pour a glass of your home-made CBD wine, kick back, relax and enjoy each and every sip of this healthy and tasty goodness.
Bear in mind that in this homemade process, you will still maintain some of the alcohol from the wine you use in making your CBD drinkable. CBD wine is a great option for people who are not comfortable with smoking and vaping. It also does a good job at masking the earthy tastes of CBD. If you are thinking of using CBD wine as a form of medication, be sure to consult your doctor first.
